In celebration of the creative spirit, Pyramid Atlantic Art Center is proud to announce the Washington, DC film premiere of
BEAUTIFUL LOSERS on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the historic 400- seat art deco theatre at the American Film Institute Silver Theatre and Cultural Center, 8633 Colesville Road, Downtown Silver Spring, Maryland. Notable guests
include Delegates Sheila Hixson, Heather Mizeur and Jaime Raskin, County Councilmember Valerie Irvin and avid art collector, Dr. Michael Pollack. The screening is the focal point of the annual fundraiser, which includes a question and
answer session with special guests Dr. Martin Irvine and Roger Gastman, followed by the silent art auction and reception.

Martin Irvine is the founder and director of Irvine Contemporary and the curator behind Street/Studio, featuring works by artists who use the street and urban space as extensions of their studios, and who bring the street and urban sites into their studio, opening June 20 at Irvine Contemporary. Roger Gastman, originally from Bethesda, Maryland, is a
well-regarded publisher, filmmaker and graffiti trailblazer who is currently working on his new book: WRITING: The History of American Graffiti with Caleb Neelon and producing a documentary film about DC’s graffiti legend, Cool Disco Dan.
In addition, Pyramid Atlantic is proud to announce in a first time collaborative effort, a special limited edition print was commissioned by notable street-artist Gaia, printed by Pyramid Atlantic Arts Center and published by Irvine Contemporary. The print is part of the silent art auction, which also includes pieces by Pulitzer Prize winner Art Spiegelman, William T. Wiley, William Christenberry, Hung Lui, Joyce Scott, Ken Aptekar, Benito Huerta and Ann Crain.
General Admission tickets are $50 and include admission to the screening, silent art auction and reception. VIP tickets are $125 and include a pre-reception with special guests, music, and complimentary wine and light appetizers. Raffle tickets for a chance to win a new Honda Civic Hybrid are $5. All proceeds of the Fundraiser will benefit Pyramid Atlantic’s Artist-in-Residence Programs, Outreach and Exhibitions Programs. Pyramid Atlantic is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit contemporary arts center, dedicated to the creation and appreciation of hand papermaking, printmaking, digital arts, and the art of the book.
