In what is sure to be another memorable evening of hilarity and
spine-chilling theatre, the Lumina Theatre Group of adults and Lumina
Studio Theatre graduates will present three one-act plays: TRIFLES by
Susan Glaspell. THE OPEN WINDOW by Saki – and Tom Stoppard’s THE REAL
INSPECTOR HOUND as a follow-up to last year’s acclaimed production of
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s “The Hound of the Baskervilles.”
Susan Glaspell’s TRIFLES is a classic American one-act. A woman has been
imprisoned, accused of murdering her husband. The sheriff, attorney and
a neighbor search her farmhouse for evidence of a motive, mocking their
wives for their concern with ‘trifles’… Directed by Blair High School
senior Nora McNally, graduate of Lumina’s Advanced Acting and Directing
program, Lumina’s stage manager, and member of the Lumina Ensemble, the
cast features adult actors Cassie Gabriel and Penelope Winkler, along
with Mark Jefferson, Keith Anderson and Robert Wiser.
In THE OPEN WINDOW by Saki, a visitor comes to a country house in search
of a cure for his shattered nerves, but falls into the clutches of an
imaginative and mischievous teenager… The much celebrated Blair High
School drama teacher and musical theater director Kelly O’Connor is
directing and acting in THE OPEN WINDOW with professional actor Ritchie
Porter (Head of Performing Arts Dept./Drama Teacher at St. Andrews Upper
School) and Tasmin Swanson (sophomore at Blair High School), with John
O’Connor, Mark Jefferson and Keith Anderson.
Tom Stoppard’s THE REAL INSPECTOR HOUND is both a hilarious mockery of
the British whodunit, as popularized by Agatha Christie, and a genuine
murder mystery in its own right. Has the escaped madman found his way to
isolated Muldoon Manor? Why has nobody noticed the body stretched out
behind the sofa? And who is the real Inspector Hound...? This
crowd-pleasing theatrical masterpiece is directed by British actor John
O’Connor and features Lumina’s director David Minton as Moon, John
O’Connor as Birdboot, award-winning storyteller/actor Noa Baum as Mrs.
Drudge, professional actors Bette Cassatt and John Whitney as Felicity
and Magnus, Kelly O'Connor as Lady Cynthia, Robert Lach as Simon
Gascoyne, and Lumina alumnus Michael Novello as Inspector Hound.
