Celebrating its 55th annual show, Hexagon is as wry of wit and spry of leg as ever!!! As Washington’s only original political satirical musical comedy revue, everyone is fair game for roasting through songs and skits and dances, ranging from tango to tap to kickline. This year’s cast of 38 from DC, Maryland and Virginia will perform original songs and skits showcasing the “dances” and shenanigans around our fair city and our great land. Specifically, material this year features “czars” of the Obama administration, prowling ladies “of a certain age,” baby factories, wise Latina judges, global warming, Sarah Palin, and everybody’s favorite fix, chocolate. And, of course, the famous Hexagon ladies kick line and so much more! Keeping with Hexagon tradition, members of the Washington area media will also be volunteering their time for each performance by participating in Hexagon’s well-known “Newsbreak” segments.
Hexagon is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization with open membership, representing a cross-section of the Washington metropolitan area. Its mission is to use theater arts to improve the lives of others within the community. Each Hexagon show is completely original. To date, Hexagon has donated more than $3.5 million to 40-plus Washington metropolitan area charities. Proceeds from the show will go to this year’s beneficiary Rebuilding Together of Washington, DC, a community-based, nonprofit organization that has repaired the homes of over 2,600 of the city’s most vulnerable homeowners since 1983. Each year Rebuilding Together repairs over 100 homes for Washington, DC homeowners living in truly horrific conditions, enabling low-income elderly, disabled, and families with children to stay in their own homes independently, with an improved, safe quality of life.
