The free First Annual Silver Spring Blues Festival is an outdoor street festival featuring international and regional blues stars playing acoustic and electric blues. Festival activities include crafts, face painting, magicians, clowns, and a musical instrument petting zoo
 
This is a great opportunity to take mom out for Mother's Day and/or pick up a gift!  Start with the Silver Spring Farmers Market from 9am-1pm and stay for the free fun that starts at 2pm!  There's outdoor seating at the restaurants and/or bring your festival chair and/or dance the entire festival!  Free parking is available in the numerous garages and it's walking distance from the Silver Spring metro.

2:00-2:20pm Three Chords and the Truth - Students Celebrating America's Music from the Delta and Beyond

2:25-2:55pm Jonny Grave -- acoustic blues from the Heartland, steeped in the traditions of R.L. Burnside, Fred McDowell and others.

3:05-3:50pm  Capital Blues Ensemble - winners of the DCBS Festival Competition -- they take the blues, some R&B, and add a bit of a swing jazz finesse for a  foot-stomping, blues-based dance show!

4:00-4:50pm  DC Blues Society Band -  DCBS brings you one of the area’s hottest, funkiest, most entertaining bands to grow out of the local blues scene!

5:00-6:00pm  Memphis Gold - deep Memphis blues -- currently featured on the cover of Living Blues Magazine , America 's oldest and most authoritative blues magazine.
