The newly renovated GranDesign building, located at 912 Thayer Avenue is a major improvement to the architectural landscape of the Silver Spring downtown area.

The 19,000 square foot three-story office building is the rebirth of a 40-year old structure that had shown its wear and tear. The Architectural office of GranDesign Studio, Inc., which  relocated to the building’s upper level in April, 2005, redesigned the structure and helped transformed the tired old neighborhood feature into a vibrant new building imbued with fresh vitality.

The building has been stripped to the original steel frame and was totally refitted to meet all new office building standards. The new standards include a new elevator, new energy efficient windows and doors, an added stair, new heating and cooling systems and an upgraded electrical service that meets modern power requirements.

The building is located in an area that will undergo many improvements in the next two years. Sidewalks will be repaved with bricks, new landscaping and street lighting will link Thayer Ave to the close-by emerging New Downtown Silver Spring.
