SILVER SPRING, MD. (January 23, 2012) – Doubletree Hotels has announced the opening of the Doubletree Hotel located in Silver Spring, Maryland.  Centrally located just 5 blocks north of the Washington DC / Maryland border, the upscale, full-service hotel is just one block from the AFI Silver Theater & Cultural Center, Live Nation’s new Fillmore Silver Spring, and Downtown Silver Spring’s thriving city center.

The Doubletree Hotel Washington DC – Silver Spring converted from the former Hilton Washington DC - Silver Spring and has recently completed a major, multi-phase renovation that has reinvigorated the property’s 248 guest rooms, lobby space, and public areas with exciting and modern color-schemes throughout the design package. The hotel’s primary food and beverage outlet, Twisted Willow Restaurant & Bar, was imaginatively redesigned utilizing contemporary and eclectic lighting and finish elements befitting  the Silver Spring Downtown Arts & Entertainment District.  The restaurant was also reconfigured to accommodate up to 75 guests in the new 1,000-square foot bar/lounge facility fronting along the busy Colesville Road commercial corridor.

The property is owned by Milestone Hotel Partners, LLC and managed by Milestone Hospitality Management, LLC under a franchise agreement with a subsidiary of Hilton Hotels Worldwide.  Milestonealso owns and manages the dual-branded Homewood Suites and Hampton Inn Silver Spring properties located directly across the street. The management team is thrilled to add a DoubleTree branded hotel to its Downtown Silver Spring portfolio offering an upper-upscale array of facilities and amenities within a variety of price points to travelers in the DC Metro region. Senior Vice President of Operations, Glenn Schumaker, and Regional Director of Sales and Marketing, Chris Colvin, lead the management team at the newly renovated property with a combined fifty years of experience in the hospitality industry. Glenn Schumaker has worked in hospitality for thirty-two years, including four years with Hilton Corporation and the past ten years with Milestone Hospitality. Chris Colvin’s experience as a Director of Sales in the hotel industry began twenty-two years ago in the Washington DC market, with the last eight in Silver Spring with Milestone Hospitality.
