"The Department's Life Safety Unit is presenting additional courses directed at babysitters. One is a Babysitter Safety Course and the other a CPR class. The Babysitters Class will be held Tuesday, July 10 from 6 to 10 pm in the lower level training room of Fire Station 16, 111 University Blvd. East, adjacent to Montgomery Blair High School... The four (4) hour babysitter safety class covers safety in the home including fire prevention, stranger danger, scalds and burns, choking hazards, basic first aid, how to get help and other useful information. It is taught by a paramedic. ... It is appropriate for pre-teen and teenagers starting at age 12. Attendees also receive a small safety tools backpack. There is no charge but pre-registration is required. ...
A companion CPR class will be held in two sessions, Thursday, July 19 and Tuesday, July 24. These sessions will also be held at Fire Station 16.
