County Launches Spanish Language Radio Show!

COUNTY LAUNCHES SPANISH LANGUAGE RADIO SHOW! 

Montgomery County Launches Spanish Language Radio Show on Radio América 1540 AM... The Montgomery County Office of Public Information (PIO) launched “Montgomery al Día” (Montgomery Today), a weekly half-hour County show on Spanish-language Radio América 1540 AM, headquartered in Wheaton.  The live show takes place every Tuesday 2:00-2:30 pm.  “This radio show will serve as an additional tool to continue our ongoing commitment of informing the fast growing Hispanic community in Montgomery about County services, policy and programs,” said Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett. “Montgomery al Día” will involve interviews, pre-taped news, PSAs, and public call-ins, with production assistance as needed provided by Radio América.  County government departments, County Council, and other County agencies will collaborate to bring guests, news, and information to the County’s Hispanic community. 

The show will be hosted by Lorna Virgili of PIO and a 20 year veteran Spanish language broadcast journalist. “Information is power”, said Patrick Lacefield, Director of the Montgomery County Office of Public Information. “I’m really excited about teaming with Radio América to reach out to our County’s diverse communities.”  Inaugural show will take place on April 3rd, 2012 with guest appearances from Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett; Recreation Director Gabriel Albornoz; Department of Environmental Protection Director Bob Hoyt; Dr. Gilberto Zelaya from the Board of Elections; Councilmember George Leventhal, and others.  The show will also have a television component.  “Montgomery al Día” will be recorded live-on-tape at the Radio América studios and broadcasted every week on County Cable Montgomery; Channel 6 for Comcast and RCN subscribers; Channel 30 for Verizon subscribers.  To listen to the live broadcast of “Montgomery al Día” every Tuesday at 2pm visit: www.radioamerica.net
