Useful New Transportation Websites

Useful new transportation websites

There are three new websites that could prove very useful to area residents.

The first one is Reach-A-Ride, the brainchild of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.  It provides information, in both English and Spanish, about specialized transportation options throughout the metro DC area for people with disabilities, older adults, those with limited English proficiency and low-income commuters.  The website also provides links to programs and services.  In addition, there is a toll-free hotline:  855-732-2427.

The second one, www.trafficview.org, is a website with real-time consolidated travel information, provided by the transportation agencies of the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.

The third website is www.capitalregionupdates.gov,

unveiled December 15, 2011.  It provides emergency alerts and current weather, traffic and utility (disruption) info, and more. The website is the joint project of the homeland security agencies of DC, Maryland and Virginia.
