VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY WITH THE SSVFD
From our Fire Chief, Roger A. McGary, Fire Chief: "Neighbors: The Silver Spring Volunteer Fire Department is starting a Life Safety Unit as part of its long term strategic plan. We are looking for men and women of any age who are willing to participate in community outreach to teach life safety skills to increase the injury prevention focus of service to the greater Silver Spring community. These individuals will not be fighting fires or providing emergency medical services...
The Department will be the first in Maryland to recruit volunteers to serve as Life Safety Technicians. These individuals will be trained in a variety of roles including Child Passenger Safety Technician, outreach and home inspections. They will receive all the benefits that are available to fire rescue volunteers in Montgomery County and the State of Maryland."
