Silver Spring Arts & Entertainment District Seeks Applicants for Advisory Group

Silver Spring Arts & Entertainment District is seeking applicants to fill vacancies on the Arts & Entertainment District Advisory Group.

The Silver Spring Arts and Entertainment District which was originally designated by the State of Maryland in 2001, and managed by Montgomery County Government, is intended to develop, promote, and support a diverse artistic and cultural center through economic development, attracting tourism with unique local experiences, preserving a sense of place for community members, and encouraging economic revitalization and neighborhood pride. The District provides a welcoming, eclectic urban center in the downtown that showcases the arts and entertainment community, while providing a unique source of culture, recreation, and entertainment for residents and visitors. 

The 15-member group will be composed of representatives of various stakeholders that live or work within the boundaries of Silver Spring’s District, including individuals working at arts organizations, venues, and entertainment anchors, artists living or working in the District, residents, representatives of businesses or creative enterprises within the District, or individuals who have demonstrated an interest and an ability to support, promote, and encourage the very best quality of life for all of Silver Spring through the goals of the District. 

The group will advise the Silver Spring Regional Center on supporting an environment and opportunities for arts and entertainment entities to thrive in Silver Spring and to help achieve the goals of the District. 

Members will serve three-year terms without compensation.

Applicants of diverse backgrounds, professions, genders, abilities, ethnicities, and ages are encouraged to apply. The deadline for application is June 1, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. Deadline extended.
