The Arc
1203 Fidler Ln, Silver Spring, MD 20910
CATEGORIES: Public Art in Silver Spring | Public Art
Located in a charming brick courtyard with benches and covered arbors, this sculpture is reminiscent of a rock formation in the Arizona desert. A very tactile sculpture, the straight sides of the granite appears smooth but the pits of the stone are pleasing to touch. The rust and pink color hues fit right into the color scheme of the brick courtyard, which is an unexpectedly tranquil find so close to busy Colesville Road. The piece was originally conceived by artists Thom Ashcroft and David Chung. The stone benches in the courtyard were also designed by the artists to complement the sculpture.
