Progress Place


Progress Place is a facility owned by Montgomery County which has two primary programs, Shepherd's Table and Interfaith Works, offering services to the homeless in the Silver Spring area.
Services Offered at Shepherd's Table

  • Meals
    Dinner served every evening from 6:00pm to 7:30pm
  • Clothes Closet
    Each Wednesdays from 10:00am to 12 noon.
  • Eye Clinic
    Tuesdays 10am-2pm by referral
  • Showers

Interfaith Works, founded in 1972, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency and a non-sectarian interfaith coalition of more than 165 affiliated congregations of diverse faiths, working together to meet the needs of the poor and homeless in Montgomery County, Md.

Our trained, professional staff members work with individuals and families in crisis to help equip them to lift themselves from poverty and homelessness through prevention, stabilization and empowerment programs.

Day program, including classes and case management
Access to laundry and showers
Seasonal shelter in weather extremes
Vocational services, including job-readiness classes
Permanent, supportive housing program providing residences to 21 men and women who previously experienced homelessness
