FINAL RESURFACING ON EAST WEST HIGHWAY IN SILVER SPRING HAS BEGUN

Final resurfacing involves removal of the top layer of asphalt, applying new asphalt to all traffic lanes and applying new pavement markings to the new driving surface. Weather permitting, all resurfacing should be complete by fall. The overall project should be complete by late fall. SHA may use electronic message boards, construction cones, barrels, arrow boards and a flagging operation to direct motorists through the work zone. SHA asks for your patience as crews work to finish the project. Residents and travelers are advised that equipment used for construction can be loud and disruptive. Final resurfacing will take place at night while other construction on other non-resurfacing activity will take place during weekday work hours.

To expedite all phases of work on this project, temporary intermittent lane closures in both directions of MD 410 are permitted:

  • 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays; and
  • 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., overnight, Sunday through Thursday
